I think my intrigue with birth and babies began as a young girl, watching TLC’s A Baby Story and playing pretend birth with my dolls. This divinely designed process has fascinated me for a long time. Being a mother has long been my dream. Professionally, I have worked in MU's Children’s Hospital as a nurse with Pediatrics since 2020. Being a Peds nurse has given me the privilege to assist lots of babies and moms with breastfeeding. I am also cross-trained in postpartum care, and have cared for NICU babies on many shifts. My admiration for breastfeeding has grown so much with my time as a staff nurse, but it truly flourished while I was expecting my first baby. I researched endlessly and even sought out a lactation consultant while I was pregnant. I wanted to know everything I could before the baby was even here, and I was eager to see my studying pay off. I nursed my son for 14 months proudly before he self-weaned during my second pregnancy. I am still exclusively nursing my daughter. I love breastfeeding. I am grateful that I can sneak off to a quiet corner to nurse my baby during the busy days. I am proud to give them the amazing benefits of breastfeeding, while enjoying the benefits it gives to my body, too! For me, breastfeeding is one of the many joys of motherhood. I feel called to help as many women as possible experience joyful breastfeeding.
